Social Media Optimization

Social Media Optimization

Social media optimization is an idea that’s been around for a while, but has really come into popularity since Google’s Hummingbird Algorithm , the most important factor of that algorithm change was a new focus on social activity for SEO. Traditional SEO, as you likely know, focuses on link building . The more links you have to and within your content, the higher it’ll appear in a search.
Now, however, the all-important link has been replaced with the Google +1.
Google has also hugely increased the value of social endorsements of all kinds. Yes, links are still incredibly important (please do not take away from this section that you can stop link-building), but important also is the Facebook “like,” Twitter’s tweets, LinkedIn’s shares and Pinterest’s pins.

Google Webmaster Tools (GWT) is the primary mechanism for Google to communicate with webmasters. Google Webmaster Tools helps you to identify issues with your site and can even let you know if it has been infected with malware (not something you ever want to see, but if you haven’t spotted it yourself, or had one of your users tweet at you to let you know, it’s invaluable). It is a google search console or mock point.

Verification

Before you can access any data on your site, you have to prove that you’re an authorized representative of the site. This is done through a process of verification.
There are five main methods of verification currently in place for GWT. There’s no real preference as to which method you use, although the first two tend to be the most commonly used as they’ve been around for longer.

1. The HTML file upload. Google provides you with a blank, specially named file that you just have to drop in the root directory of your site. Once you’ve done that, you just click on the verify button and you’ll have access to your GWT data for this site.

2. HTML tag. Clicking on this option will provide you with a metatag that you can insert into the head of your home page. Once it’s there, click on the verify button to view your GWT data. One item to note about using this method of verification is that it’s possible for the tag to be accidentally removed during an update to the home page, which would lead to a revocation of the verification, but reinserting the tag and clicking verify again will fix that.

3. Domain Name Provider. Select your Domain Name provider from the drop-down list and Google will give you a step-by-step guide for verification along with a unique security token for you to use.

4. Google Analytics. If the Google account you’re using for GWT is the same account as for GA (assuming you’re using GA as your analytics solution), is an admin on the GA account, and you’re using the asynchronous tracking code (with the code being in the head of your home page), then you can verify the site this way.

5. Google Tag Manager. This option allows you to use the Google Tag Manager to verify your site.

You can use all of the wide range of tracking statistics and analysis at no cost.  To sign up to Google Analytics you’ll need a Gmail account that is also free to create if you do not have one.

Analyse sources of traffic

Google Analytics can show you how users are being driven to your website, for example how many people have found your website through a link from another website, via paid advertisements, from search engines or from a direct link. This will allow you to see proportionally how successful various methods of traffic sources are, such as if your advertisements are performing well by increasing traffic.

 Keywords

Google Analytics can be used to see what keywords you are being found under in search engines. This will show you which keywords are performing well, allowing you to modify your website to assist with search engine optimization to try and boost the traffic generated from certain keywords.

Visitors Information

Google Analytics provides an excellent breakdown of information about visitors coming to your website. You can see the most popular countries and towns that are accessing your website, helping you to determine if any localized marketing campaigns or keyword targeting is providing desired results. It can also help you to tailor your content or advertising to any areas that are generating a significant portion of traffic.

Specific page popularity

Google Analytics can provide data about which of your pages are the most popular, allowing you to see which areas of your website are being considered more relevant and higher value content. Using this information you can improve these pages to attempt to generate more sales as well as being able to see the type of content that is sought after by your visitors that can help you to shape future content.

 Bounce rates

This is the amount of users that only view one page of your website before leaving or ‘bouncing’ away again. If your bounce rate is rather high it is likely that your website is not what the user was looking for or perhaps they stumbled across your website by accident. It may also be worth checking to see if any of your targeted optimizations such as keywords as they may be slightly misleading, or the quality of your traffic sources.
The bounce rate is associated with the relevance and quality of content on your website, showing visitor satisfaction across your website. This can also help you to see which pages are encouraging users to stay on your website, with the possibility to highlight those with a high bounce rate that need to be improved.

Traffic flow

Google Analytics can display how traffic is flowing in a visual flow chart. This shows you where the majority of visitor traffic is entering the website and from there showing the amount of people that visit subsequent links as well as bounce rates as they navigate across your website.

Review historical data

Google Analytics can display how traffic has changed across large periods of time.

Disadvantages

Limited number of Goals
Creating custom reports is somewhat limited
Upgrading Analytics Premium is insanely expensive

On Page Optimization - SEO Techniques

On Page Optimization Factors

On Page Optimization Techniques

What are On-Page Factors?

There are several on-page factors in search engine rankings. On Page Optimization important factor in search engine result. That include

Content of Page

The content of a page easy to increase the search result position. It is what the user came to see and is thus extremely important to the search engines. As such, it is important to create good content. Good content must supply a demand and must be linkable.

Good Hyperlink:

Hyperlink is most important in on page optimization, it is easy to increase the search engine ranking, minimum two links is used for our page. From an SEO perspective, there is no difference between the best and worst content on the Internet if it is not linkable. If people can’t link to it, search engines will be very unlikely to rank it, and as a result the content won’t drive traffic to the given website. Unfortunately, this happens a lot more often than one might think.

Title Tag

Title tags are the second most important on-page factor for SEO, after content. You can read more information about title tag.

 Title length

Google typically displays the first 55-60 characters of a title tag. If you keep your titles under 70 characters, our research you can expect about 90% of your titles to display properly. There's no exact character limit, because characters can vary in width and Google's display titles max out (currently) at 512 pixels.

Why  title tags important?

Title tags are a major factor in helping search engines understand what your page is about, and it is the first impression many people have of your page. Title tags are used in three key places: (1) search engine results pages , (2) web browsers, and (3) social networks.

1. Search engine result pages

Your title tag determines (with a few exceptions) your display title in SERPs, and is a search visitor's first experience of your site. Even if your site ranks well, a good title can be  factor in determining whether or not someone clicks on your link. Title is the most important in on page optimization.
2. Web browsers

Your title tag is also displayed at the top of your web browser , especially for people who have many browser tabs open. Unique and easily recognizable titles with important keywords near the front make sure that people don't lose track of your content.
3. Social networks

Social networks—will use your title tag to determine what to display when you share that page. Here's a screenshot from Facebook, for example:

How do I write a good title tag?

Because title tags are such an important part of both search engine optimization and the search user experience, good title contains

1. Minimum title length

If your title is too long, search engines may cut it off—adding an ellipsis ("...")—and could end up not displaying important words. While we generally recommend keeping your titles under 60 characters long, the exact limit is a bit more complicated and is based on a 512-pixel container.
Some characters naturally take up more space. A character like uppercase 'W' is wider than a lowercase character like 'i' or 't'.
Try to avoid ALL-CAPS titles. They may be hard for search visitors to read, and may severely limit the number of characters Google will display.

2. Don't Use More SEO keywords

Avoid titles that are just a list of keywords or repeat variations of the same keyword over and over. These titles are bad for search users and could get you into trouble with search engines.

3.  Every page have a unique title

Unique titles help search engines understand that your content is unique and valuable. Every pages maintain a unique title, otherwise it causes page competition.
keywords closer to the beginning of your title tag may have more impact on search rankings.

4. URL

Along with smart internal linking, SEOs should make sure that the category hierarchy of the given website is reflected in link.

SEO Best Practice
SEO Techniques

The purpose of the given web page should be directly stated in all of the following areas:
Title tag
URL
Content of page
Image alt text

An ideal web page should do all of the following
o Include subject in title tag
o Include subject in URL
o Include subject in image alt text
o Specify subject several times throughout text content
Provide unique content about a given subject
